Home Assignment
I arrived in Oregon on March 31 for a three month Home Assignment. My date of departure is June 22, 2005. During this time I will be visiting some of those who are supporting me by prayer and through financial means. Please contact me for a meeting time.

Why Home Assignment Now?
As I was looking at my work in Mozambique and the involvement of someone else while I was away for a longer time, I felt that a shorter time away would make more sense. My team mate, Steven Wheatley is taking care of everything in my absence.

Office Opening
On October 22, 2004, we had the grand opening of the new SIM Mozambique office in Lichinga. In the past the office had been in the capital city of Maputo, but as we moved north in 2001, it was decided to relocate the office in the part of the country in which we were living. Between October 2001, when we arrived in Lichinga until now, Steve Groves has worked on finding property and getting the new office built. It was a big project.The Opening day began with a meeting of the Advisory Committee, which consisted of two Mozambicans and four missionaries. We mostly discussed the afternoon event of the opening. As guests arrived Paulo Abilio and I welcomed them at the gate, then everyone was ushered to the only place which could give everyone shade: the garage. After everyone was welcomed we had a history of our work in Mozambique by Stuart Foster and a sermon by Sidonio Amado. A choir from the Anglican church sang some songs for us. After the program we all moved up to one of the doors of the office and the ribbon was cut by The Director of Religious Affairs in Niassa and our SIM Area director. After the ribbon was cut, everyone filed through the office and out the other door, receiving a piece of cake, a coke, and a pen that said SIM Lichinga.

Bible Studies
In November my Bible study at the Presbyterian Church suddenly ended as they took a break for Christmas. We were studying the life of a Christian with the women’s group and then to my surprise the men joined us as well.The United Baptist church asked me to do a study on Church leadership. I felt the best way to learn the most was to use a TEE book. They began their 10 week study in March and should be continuing without my help.

Jesus Film Showing
Just before Easter we invited our four watchman (two from the office and two from our house) and their families to watch the Jesus Film. Most of the 20+ people were not Christians, so it was good for them to see and hear the real story of Jesus.Thank You...My work in Mozambique would not be possible without your prayers and giving.
